MANILA, Philippines — Fil-Am Utah Jazz guard Jordan Clarkson is keeping an eye on Kai Sotto as the latter continues to work toward his dream NBA career.

But for the 7-2 former Batang Gilas standout to make it, Clarkson thinks Sotto must put in the work.

“The best advice that I could give to him is to stay in the gym and keep continuing to work,” said Clarkson during a media availability session with select Filipino sportswriters yesterday.

Clarkson said Sotto, who is playing for the G League select squad Ignite, should maximize his opportunities and learn from the experience.

“He’s around NBA pro guys and coaches, and just having that, being around that experience is going to be great for him, especially at a young age,” said Clarkson.

Clarkson is talking from experience, having played for the NBA Developmental League before finding his way to the NBA where he is regarded as one of the best “sixth man.”

Clarkson advised Sotto to trust the process in his bid to fulfill his NBA dreams.

“I would tell them to put their nose down, keep grinding and put the time in because it’s all going to work out at the end of the day,” he said.

Clarkson said his main focus right now is how he can improve as a player and help contribute to making his team better.

“I’m concerned of the team winning,” he said.
